Old houses, new houses and everything between

Asheville has some of the most varied housing in the state. Montford and Grove Park are full of late 1800s and early 1900s homes with deep porches and layers of old trim paint. West Asheville runs to bungalows and mid-century ranches, and the south side near Biltmore Park and Arden is mostly newer subdivisions with fiber cement siding and open floor plans.

Each one paints differently. Old wood siding needs scraping and spot priming, plaster walls need patches that blend in, and newer homes mostly need clean lines and a crew that keeps the house livable while the work goes on.

What the weather does to paint here

Asheville gets plenty of rain, humid summers and hard freezes in some winters. North walls and porches under big oaks stay damp and grow mildew, while south and west walls fade and chalk. Those sides get washed and prepped with extra care before any paint goes on.
