Wallpaper that went up decades ago rarely comes down in clean sheets. The face peels off, the backing stays, and the paste underneath can turn new paint into a crackled mess if it is not washed away.

We score and soak the paper, take it down a strip at a time, wash off the leftover glue and repair any drywall that tore in the process. The walls are then primed and painted, so the room goes from dated paper to finished color in one job, with one crew.

How it comes down

    Test

    We check how the paper is hung and what is under it, then give you a free estimate.

  2. 02

    Strip

    The paper is scored, soaked and removed, backing and all.

  3. 03

    Wash and repair

    Glue is washed off, torn spots are sealed and patched, and the walls are sanded smooth.

  4. 04

    Prime and paint

    Walls are primed and painted so the room is finished, not just bare.

Questions

Wallpaper removal questions

Can you paint over wallpaper?

It can be done, but seams and edges tend to show through and lift later. Taking the paper down gives a wall that holds paint properly.

What if the drywall tears when the paper comes off?

That is common with older paper. Torn spots are sealed with primer, patched and sanded before paint.

Do you only do the removal?

We can, though most people have us paint the walls in the same visit so the room is finished.
